Thank you to Literacy for Incarcerated Teens for providing a second round of funding for our workshops with young women at the Brooklyn DA's Office of Re-entry who are impacted by the criminal justice system. Click HERE to go to their website for more information about this great organization, founded by a teacher and run by librarians, writers and teachers.
In these workshops participants receive journals and books, build social skills, and develop their affinity for reading and writing. As participants express themselves and share their thoughts, feelings and experiences through writing they are also developing important literacy skills.
We couldn't do this much needed and rewarding work without the generous support of LIT!
